The John Marshall Law School was host to 25 law students from the Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey (FLDM), one of the best law schools in Mexico, Aug. 13 through 18.  Joining them were Jose Robles Flores Fernandez, the dean of the law school, and Fernando Villareal Gonda, the academic vice dean.  The delegation came to John Marshall to learn about the U.S. legal system. Their time in Chicago included visits to the Circuit Court of Cook County and the courts at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse.

On Monday, Aug. 15, there was a special signing ceremony establishing the FLDM International Law Society.  The students also took park in a debate on international law issues in the Goldberg Courtroom, and were guests at a reception on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

FLDM has hosted the third and fifth Global Legal Skills Conferences. Members of the John Marshall faculty have been to Monterrey to attend those conferences or to lecture at the law school.
