On Sept. 16, 2011, she participated as a panelist at the program “Breaking In: How to Become a Law Professor or Law School Administrator” organized by SALT and co-sponsored by John Marshall and Northern Illinois University College of Law. She was a panelist for “Different Paths In: How to Break Into the Academy.” In addition, my essay, “Entering the Law Teaching Market,” was distributed at this event. On Oct. 6, 2011, she participated as a panelist for a mock AALS interview at the Faculty Development Workshop organized by SALT and LatCrit in San Diego. Her essay, “Entering the Law Teaching Market,” was also distributed at this event.
On Oct. 8, 2011, she presented on a panel at the LatCrit XVI Conference in San Diego. Her topic was “Corporate Hijacking of FOIA: How Our Government Transparency Apparatus Serves Fewer Human People.”
Publications
Her article, “The Freedom of Information Act Trial,” was accepted for publication and will appear as the lead article in the December 2011 issue of the American University Law Review.
Professor Kim D. Chanbonpin
Activities
Professor Chanbonpin was invited to speak at the Student Scholar Program plenary session at this year’s annual LatCrit conference in San Diego.
She has been invited to present her article “Legal Writing, the Remix: Plagiarism and Hip Hop Ethics” at the Drexel University Earle Mack School of Law during Spring 2012. The article describes how hip-hop music and culture can be used to teach legal citation and plagiarism in the legal writing classroom.
