Professor Daryl Lim, Director of the John Marshall Law School’s Center for Intellectual Property, Information & Privacy Law, participated in a conference co-hosted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a 35-country intergovernmental economic organization. The OECD works with governments to foster international dialogue on issues that affect the global economy, such as the role of regulation and competition in creating appropriate incentives for fostering innovation for sustainable development.

The event brought together senior government officials, representatives from industry and non-governmental organizations, academics, attorneys and economic experts. Speakers included Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu; United Nations Former Under Secretary General, Department of Economic and Social Affairs Nitin Desai; United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Deputy Secretary General Isabelle Durant; World Bank Senior Trade Economist Sebastian Saez; and Former President of the Mexican Federal Competition Commission Eduardo Perez Motta. Companies represented included Uber, Qualcomm, Google and eBay.

“I was honored to contribute to the discussion at this important forum,” said Lim. “John Marshall has a reputation for its practical engagement of the IP issues that concern both developed and developing countries. I enjoyed discussing and finding solutions to common challenges facing all of us.”

Lim participated in the plenary session titled “Finding the Right Balance between IPR and Competition.” The event was co-hosted by CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition and the Community Information Resource Centers. It was held in Jaipur, India earlier this month.

John Marshall’s IP program was 2017’s top-ranked IP program in the Midwest according to U.S. News & World Report. The program has been continuously ranked since the IP rankings began in 2000. It offers masters programs in IP for attorneys and non-attorneys that can be done completely online.
