The Student Bar Association welcomed student, faculty and staff to their annual holiday lunch on Nov. 26, 2012, in John Marshall’s 3-East. The John Marshall Choir performed holiday selections, awards were presented to student organizations and student juggler, Martin Hostinsky, performed.
Five student groups not in attendance received the merit award for the fall 2012 semester: the Children and Family Law Society, Environmental Law Society, Federalist Society, the Middle Eastern Law Students Association and legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi. Daissy Dominguez, president of the Latino Law Students Association, also accepted the merit award for LLSA.
- William Powers, associate dean of Admission and Student Affairs, presented a student organization merit award to students of the Black Law Students Society (BLSA). BLSA also received the award for Most Active Minority Organization and the Most Active Organization Overall for the fall 2012 semester.
- William Powers, associate dean of Admission and Student Affairs, presented a student organization merit award to Latino Law Students Association (LLSA), accepted by LLSA President Daissy Dominguez.
- William Powers, associate dean of Admission and Student Affairs, presented a student organization merit award to students of Phi Alpha Delta (PAD). PAD also was recognized as the Most Active Legal Fraternity for the fall 2012 semester.
- The student/faculty/staff vocal ensemble performed holiday songs: Directed by Peter Beck, publications coordinator, Prof. Maureen Kordesh (standing, third from left) and Associate Dean Rory Smith (standing, second from right) sang with students (standing, from left) Cyreka Jacobs, Cadence Tuttle, Laura Tagliere and William Nguyen. Prof. Michael Seng (sitting) played piano accompaniment.
- Martin Hostinsky, an exchange student from the Czech-Republic, performed a juggling routine for the holiday party guests.
- William Powers, associate dean of Admission and Student Affairs, presented a student organization merit award to students of the Corporate Law Society. The Corporate Law Society also was recognized as the Overall Outstanding Student Organization for the fall 2012 semester.
