She presented Demand Letters: A Perfect First Step Towards Persuasion and Advocacy at the Central States Legal Writing Conference Sept. 16 and 17, 2011.

Publications

Her article, “Plagiarism: What Every Legal Writer Should Know” will be published in Russian Law Theory and Practice, Journal of the Russian Academy of Legal Sciences.  Publication is planned for the end of this year.

His article, “Human Trafficking Victim Identification: Should Consent Matter?” was accepted for publication by the Indiana Law Review.

 

Professor and Associate Dean Ralph Ruebner

Activities

He serves as Of Counsel, pro bono, in a case presently pending before the Illinois Supreme Court, People v. Kladis, a case that raises important questions of first impression on the nature of misdemeanor discovery rights in Illinois, violations by the state, and sanctions for discovery violations.

 

Professor Mark E. Wojcik

Activities

He spoke on September 10, 2011 at the National LGBT Lavender Law Conference in Los Angeles. His panel addressed legal issues relating to the new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) for internet websites. The other panelists included the Legal Director for Global Brand Protection at Yahoo!, the Associate General Counsel for Trademarks at Microsoft Corporation, the Chief Marketing Manager for MarkMonitor, and a partner from the Washington DC office of Steptoe & Johnson.

He spoke on September 16, 2011 on the question of whether lawyering skills courses should teach students to use Fastcase, Casemaker, and Google Scholar instead of just learning Lexis/Nexis and Westlaw.  His presentation was part of the Central States Regional Legal Writing Conference held at The John Marshall Law School.

Michael Schlesinger, Director, Business Transactions Externship Program

Activities

He spoke to the Greater Southwest Development Corp on Aug. 23, 2011, about the free legal representation students in the Business Transactions Externship Program are providing for businesses and not-for-profit organizations that, because of limited financial resources, are unable to retain a lawyer in connection with business and transactional matters.
